Uh to be an adult, the possibilities that come with. The opportunity to make your own decisions and to stand by your own mistakes. You are now working full time, maybe you are starting your own family, yes and you are now responsible for the bills. You don’t look like you did when you were 18, you can't stay up all not because you have work in the morning.  The dynamics have changed, you don’t see your friends every day like the school days. Damn, life is getting real.

You ask what an adult is, and you may hear many terms thrown at you like grown, mature, developed, and responsible. I think for most of us we were considered adults on the last day of school whether we had money or not. At this point, you are considered someone who can legally work, earn a salary, take care of yourself, get married, have children, and be responsible. You must now cook your own food, wash your clothes, afford your accommodation and transportation, buy your clothing and have everything figured out.

Adulting is a full-time job. You must make sure you are making enough money to sustain today and the future because guess what, you will have to retire at some age. If you come from disadvantaged circumstances you need to make enough money to sustain yourself, your parents, and the future. Planning to have children, well they are your responsibility, and you must now balance being a working person, a parent, maybe a spouse and still figure out a social life, that is if you even have friends. Suddenly teenagers refer to you as part of the older generation.

Can we talk about the social game, because now that you are an adult it’s the “who is the better adult show”? Who has the better career, car, house, clothes, vacations and who has made it in life? At this stage of your life, you also start identifying who your real friends are, who has your back, who wants to grow old with you, and who wants to add to your cup. I think the following are some that become important in your adulting journey:
-Financial knowledge
-Relationships
-Future planning
-Finding happiness and balance

I am currently adulting and I am learning a lot, positive and negative. I am going to use this site to share lessons from my own experiences and that of others. I like to blog about what I find interesting and important in "adulting 101" after school. Hopefully you will relate and learn with me as we figure life out.
